The island of Madeira has been awarded the title of Best European Cruise Destination for the second consecutive year at the third edition of the World Cruise Awards held in Dubai. Douro Azul, a Portuguese river cruise company, also secured recognition as the Best River Cruise Company in Europe. The distinctions reflect the success of the regional government’s strategy in rebuilding cruise tourists’ confidence and keeping Madeira at the forefront of international cruise tourism preferences. The awards ceremony celebrated the outstanding performance of Portuguese ports, with Madeira receiving praise for its two-time victory. Additionally, DouroAzul’s achievement underlines its leadership in river cruising, having previously won the same award multiple times. The awards, which began in 2021, are associated with the renowned World Travel Awards, and DouroAzul’s consistent success underscores its commitment to excellence in the cruise industry.
