Mário Ferreira

Mário Ferreira, a visionary Portuguese entrepreneur and Chairman of the Pluris Investments Group, has led a transformative journey over three decades. Starting out as a small river cruise company, Pluris Investments now encompasses more than 40 companies in the tourism, media, real estate, insurance and renewable energy sectors, with a strong international presence.

As Chairman and majority shareholder of Media Capital, Mário oversees prominent television channels in Portugal and has been recognized internationally with two EMMY awards for outstanding television productions. In addition to business, he champions entrepreneurship, namely as a key investor in the Portuguese version of the Shark Tank  program.

Mário’s adventurous spirit is reflected in his various activities, from conquering the Dakar rally to completing the London Marathon. A diver since the age of 20, he has a zest for life that extends to various sports.

With an undergraduate degree in Tourism Business Management and a graduate degree in Advanced Management, Mário’s leadership extends to the Luso-American Development Foundation.

Decorated as a “Commander” by the President of Portugal in 2003, he feels fulfilled as the husband of Paula Ferreira and father of four children. Mário Ferreira’s story is synonymous with innovation, resilience and a commitment to excellence.

Paula Ferreira

Paula Paz Dias Ferreira is a leading figure in law and business, currently serving as Vice President at Pluris Investments and Executive Director at MysticInvest Holding. With a legal background from the Catholic University of Porto, she has excelled as a Judge in various Civil and Criminal Courts in the Porto District. Paula, a versatile professional, underwent executive training at the Católica Porto Business School and holds a deep interest in Art History.
Since January 2017, Paula has been the Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer at DouroAzul, SA, overseeing People Management, Legal Affairs, and Corporate Governance. She is also the President of “Out of the Wall,” curating exhibitions in art, science, and natural history.


From 2018, Paula assumed key roles as an Executive Member of the Board at MysticInvest Holding and Vice President at Pluris Investments, SA, solidifying her influence in the business world. With a remarkable career and a passion for law, management, and culture, Paula Paz Dias Ferreira continues to make a significant impact at the intersection of law and business.


In 2020 she became a Board Member of Media Capital, SA, the biggest Media company in Portugal, holding TVI and CNN Portugal, among other broadcasts, digital and entertainment production companies.
She is also a member of the General Board of AEP – Associação Empresarial de Portugal, the Portuguese Business Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Paulo Pinto

Paulo Pinto, a dynamic member of the Board of Directors of the Pluris Investments Group since 2021, brings with him more than three decades of influential leadership in the financial and strategic fields. His professional career, mainly at Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), demonstrates a remarkable trajectory marked by innovation and excellence.

As the former Central Director of CGD’s Small and Medium Enterprise Customer Segment, Paulo left an indelible mark on the North and Central regions of Portugal, which extended to the Boards of Directors of important financial institutions, including Norgarante, Lisgarante, Garval and Agrogarante.

His academic background includes a degree in Economics and recognition as a Chartered Financial Analyst by the European Association of Financial Analysts. Paulo’s commitment to continuous professional development is evident in his executive training at prestigious institutions, such as London Business School, INSEAD, Stanford Business School and MIT.

Álvaro Carvalho

Álvaro Carvalho, a qualified and experienced leader in Civil Engineering and Real Estate Management, has been a pivotal figure at Pluris Investments since April 2019, serving as a member of the Board of Directors.


His career includes prominent positions at Águas do Norte and the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRN), highlighting his influence as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sociedade Viana Polis and the Environmental Monitoring Committees of the Hydroelectric Developments in Baixo do Sabor and Tua.


With over 30 years of professional experience, he has held strategic roles at Systeam – Real Estate Investments and Betofer – Construction. He has also contributed to the development of Cotéfis – Project Management and Construtora Soares da Costa. Furthermore, he has been a member of various national entities, including the Permanent Commission for Investor Support (CPAI) and the General Assembly of Tourism Porto and Northern Portugal.


Recognized as a speaker in the new Portugal 2020 Program, as well as at events related to Environment, Spatial Planning, Tourism, and Territorial Cooperation, Álvaro Carvalho’s dedication and leadership are fundamental pillars for the development and success of the organizations he is involved in.
