Mário Ferreira to open four-million-dollar senior residence in Famalicão

A residência para idosos com 120 camas deverá entrar em funcionamento no início do segundo trimestre de 2026.
Pluris Investments, which is owned by businessman Mário Ferreira, continues to invest in the transformation of Famalicão Central Park. At stake is an investment of four million euros to transform two buildings into a Residential Centre for the Elderly (ERPI), with 120 beds.
‘This new ERPI unit in Famalicão Central Park will occupy an area of 5,550 square metres and includes the requalification of two existing buildings in that space that had been unused for a long time, in an investment of more than four million euros, fully assumed by the Pluris Investments Group,’ explains Widerproperty, the manager and marketer of the shopping complex, in a statement.
The work to convert the spaces will take place over the next few months and it is expected that the new health unit will start operating at the beginning of the second quarter of 2026. The management of the ERPI has been contracted to the STGT Group.
The announcement of the new investment comes just a few weeks after work began on the conversion of a building to house the Regus Business Centre, a world leader in co-working, as well as a project to adapt a significant area of Central Park for 80 co-living residential units.
Also ‘expected soon’ is the announcement of a new crèche with capacity for up to 200 children, a new funpark, a bakery and a new 500,000 square metre restaurant.
The space currently has a Continente hypermarket, as well as Mo, Worten, Feira dos Sofás, MaxMat, Tiffosi, Inovlar and Centroxogo shops, an indoor go-kart track, a bowling complex, a tag leisure entertainment area and spaces for birthdays. The space also includes a padel complex, Sette Padel, a gym and various shops.
‘The ongoing repositioning project assumes the multi-user vocation of Famalicão Central Park, and the new assisted living centre reinforces this commitment,’ says Luís Loureiro, CEO of Widerproperty.
The northern businessman bought Famalicão Central Park, formerly known as Lago Discount, at the end of 2023.
